Holiday fun on the Veluwe
Your stay at EuroParcs De Zanding will be a holiday full of fun swimming and playing, and is within walking distance of the Hoge Veluwe National Park. This is one of the most popular nature reserves in the Netherlands. With a lovely recreational lake, indoor swimming pool, plenty of places to play, and with woods and heathland just around the corner, there is plenty to experience here. Go game spotting on the Veluwe, to the Open Air Museum in Arnhem, or tackle a thrilling escape room together.
In the middle of countryside
EuroParcs De Zanding is located in Otterlo, in the middle of the Veluwe. This undulating, natural area, full of woods, heathland and sand dunes is an ideal holiday destination for nature lovers. Walking, cycling, animal spotting, running over the sand dunes or building huts, this is a wonderful place for young and old. You can walk straight onto the heath or into the woods from De Zanding. You will immediately be in the middle of the countryside. There are two lovely cities within a half-hour drive; Arnhem and Apeldoorn, so you can alternate easily between the countryside and a day out in the bustling city.
Indoor and outdoor swimming
Your summer holiday is just not complete without some fun in the water, so you are in the right place at EuroParcs De Zanding. It has a lovely recreational lake with an attractive beach among the vegetation. Take your air bed and parasol with you and you can enjoy an afternoon of swimming, games or lazing around on the beach. There is also a lovely indoor swimming pool where you can splash around or swim a few lengths when the days are cooler. Or maybe choose a wellness afternoon and relax in one of the various saunas.
Play your own escape game
The enthusiastic entertainment team will make sure nobody gets bored here. Children can take part in all types of activities during the holiday period, so there is plenty for them to do. Have fun climbing around on the playground equipment, jump on the air trampoline or ride around on inline skates. Maybe challenge your neighbours to a game of football or basketball. If you’re interested in an unusual challenge, sign up at ‘De Kist’ next to the reception. With its many puzzles and riddles, you will have to find out the secrets of this escape room.
Eat Italian
If you enjoy pizza or spaghetti, you’re in luck, because the restaurant at De Zanding serves delicious Italian meals. In the summer you can sit outside on the terrace, or you can live like royalty by the fireside on cooler days. For a takeaway snack with some fries you can go to the snack bar. You can also get provisions and snacks from the campsite shop, and you can even order them online! Or you can walk or cycle to the village of Otterlo where there are more attractive restaurants and cafes.
The big five in the Veluwe
Do you know about the ‘big five’ animal species you can find in the Hoge Veluwe National Park? They are the deer, wild boar, roebuck, fox and Scottish Highlander. If you want to spot them, the entrance to the Hoge Veluwe National Park is less than 10 minutes by bike from the campsite. Explore the park on foot or by bike. If you drive there by car, borrow one of the free white bikes. There is also plenty to experience in this lovely area. How about a day in Arnhem or Apeldoorn, a visit to the Open Air Museum or Burgers Zoo in Arnhem (both of them a 20 minute drive)? Het Loo Royal Palace and the Apenheul primate park are just a half-hour drive away.
