Flevoland came into being on 1 January 1986 as a result of reclaiming the Zuyder Zee. Flevoland’s unusual origins mean that the countryside is very varied. A large part of the countryside was in fact designed on the drawing board. It has also developed steadily over the past decades.
This means that in Flevoland you will find the largest hardwood forest in the Netherlands (the Horsterwold), the Waterloop woods, fruit orchards, banks teeming with waterfowl, the Oostvaarders Lakes and Lelystad Nature Park with its many animals.
It also means there is excellent walking and cycling close to your campsite. Flevoland has a wealth of walking and cycling routes that take you past the nature and culture of this province.
