You may have difficulties with the fact that Suncamp states that it is concerned about sustainability and the climate yet provides a service for travelling. This is entirely understandable, and we would like to explain our motivation.
We do travel anyway. It is important for body and mind, for broadmindedness, tolerance and forbearance. At Suncamp, we hope to inspire people to travel differently. To travel more sustainably, more consciously – by choosing a driving holiday rather than a holiday that includes air travel, by going on holiday closer to home, by discovering the off season, and by choosing for green campsites, accommodation or pitches.
We aim for an experience that is significant.
From charging stations for electric cars to campsite shops and restaurants with local and organic products: there are various way of making your camping holiday a little greener. An eco-campsite will be happy to help you on your way.

There are various reasons why Suncamp has chosen not to install solar panels on the SunLodges. These reasons can be summarised in three important aspects: batteries, shade and price.
Thus the restricted battery capacity, the presence of shade and the high costs are the most important factors that hold Suncamp back from installing solar panels on SunLodges. However, it is important to note that this decision is based on current circumstances and that future technological developments may offer new possibilities.

Choosing a driving holiday rather than travelling by air can contribute positively to sustainable travel for various reasons:
This can be found on the tab ‘Facilities’ under the heading ‘Miscellaneous’. The number of charging stations that the campsite has is listed here. You can also search for campsites with charging stations using ‘advanced search’ tool.
With very hot temperatures, the SunLodge can become really warm while you are gone. Turning on the air conditioning again and again to reach a 10-to-15-degree difference in temperature can result in using a lot of electricity. Luckily, there are also a large number of campsites that use air conditioning with low-energy settings.
In 2035, our entire selection of campsites will consist of eco-campsites.
Research and development are focussing on a mobile home prototype with integrated charging facilities for electric cars
For the construction and layout of new SunLodges, we only use wood that is FSC or PEFC certified.
