Campsites in the Pyrenees: fully equipped!

Campsites in the Pyrenees are surrounded by high mountain tops and natural beauty. The Pyrenees is extremely varied; in the north you will find beautiful green, rolling meadows and to the south you will find breath-taking mountains, rocky masses and waterfalls.

The affordable mountain village of Andorra, in the middle of the Pyrenees, is a wonderful day out when you are staying at a campsite in the neighbourhood. You will of course find campsites in the Pyrenees where you can camp in your own tent or caravan. There is often also the possibility of renting a mobile home.

Sights in the Pyrenees

There is a lot more to experience in the Pyrenees than just nature and sport. The many picturesque villages are really lovely to visit from your campsite. The Pyrenees also has a number of beautiful cities with wonderful sights and fabulous gastronomic restaurants. Depending on where you are staying we recommend the following cities:

• Perpignan
  Perpignan is known as a warm and friendly city. You will find the Palace of the King of Majorca from the 17th century and Le Castillet gateway in Perpignan. This city on the Mediterranean Sea is certainly recommendable to visit. The painter Dali even called Perpignan “the centre of the world”.
• Lourdes
  Lourdes is the largest pilgrimage site in France. Each year pilgrims from around the world come to this city. The hiking route that takes you past the most beautiful spots in this city is highly recommendable! As is the castle where you will find the Pyrenees Museum, which is a beautiful sight.
• Bayonne and Biarritz
  The beautiful coastal cities of Bayonne en Biarritz are in the northern Pyrenees. In Bayonne you will find beautiful sights like the Bayonne Cathedral (Cathédrale Sainte-Marie) and the Bonnat Museum. The quaint streets, shops and pavement cafes give Bayonne a typical French atmosphere. Just a stone’s throw away is Biarritz, which is also a mecca for European surfers. Experience it yourself!

In the vicinity of the camping sites in the Pyrenees there are plenty of mountain lakes and rivers that are suitable for a range of outdoor sports. You will be able to undertake exciting activities like canoeing, rafting, kayaking, canyoning but there is much more to do. If you aren’t such a daredevil then you can just go swimming or hiking. In short, you can do everything here.
