A wonderful glamping holiday in Croatia

Poljana Campsite is a great family campsite in Croatia. The campsite is located on the green island of Lošinj with its unspoiled nature and beautiful bays which will enchant you. Poljana Campsite is surrounded by crystal clear waters. It’s a quick stroll from both sides of the campsite to the water for a refreshing dip, or a relaxing sunbathe. All of this makes it the perfect place for a glamping holiday! That’s because you can also spend the night here in the very latest SunLodges.

Two families tested these luxury mobile homes out, and shared their experiences with us. Bas and Sanne with their two sons Sep (4) and Jip (2) were one of the families who tested out a new SunLodge at Poljana. They stayed in a SunLodge BigLeaf with their two sons. Read their travel report here.

This is definitely not what I imagined camping to be!

After the short ferry crossing from Brestova to Porozina, you arrive on the beautiful island where Poljana campsite is located. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains to the campsite. And we had some stunning views of the sea on the way! Once we arrived we were quickly able to get to our holiday spot where we would spend the next week.

Everything you could possibly need

We stayed in the brand new SunLodge BigLeaf, a luxurious mobile home for up to six people. The SunLodges are located in groups of three or four in a quiet spot, so you have plenty of privacy, which we really appreciated. Once we were inside, we were overwhelmed by the luxury: this isn’t what I imagined camping to be! The BigLeaf really does provide all you could possibly want. There’s no need to wash up, because there’s a dishwasher. You can pop some music on in the background with the Bluetooth connection and enjoy cooking in the spacious kitchen. And the bathroom has a wonderful rain shower. Pure luxury!

Sleeping in this SunLodge in Croatia is quite the experience. You’ll spend the night in spacious bedrooms with tigers, elephants or giraffes on the walls. And you’ll be able to relax at night thanks to the comfortable mattresses. We slept well in the double bed. And then there’s another bedroom with two single beds. And Sep, our oldest, thought sleeping up in the bunk bed was super cool.

Veranda with a view

The mobile home also has a wonderful veranda, with a picture-perfect view. A overlooked a stunning, crystal clear bay. And they’ve even thought of their littlest guests – there’s a stair gate on the veranda so they are free to crawl around. You can relax on the DuoLounger, or even enjoy a drink together (once the kids have gone to bed).

Poljana Campsite is a terraced campsite. But everything is easily reached on foot. The campsite has its own supermarket, a great playground which our kids really enjoyed, and a restaurant – we recommend trying the delicious takeaway pizzas.

To the sea and the aqua park

The little town of Mali Lošinj is about a 10-minute drive from the campsite, and from here you can set off on various short cruises, or just relax on a terrace. We went swimming in the sea directly from the campsite. Do take water shoes with you if you’re going for a refreshing dip here though. The beach is a pebble beach. There’s currently no swimming pool at the campsite, so we did spend an afternoon at the Čikat Aquapark. It’s a great swimming pool with lots of slides. Our youngest, Jip, also enjoyed this outing.

We’ll definitely be back

Our holiday in the BigLeaf at Poljana campsite in one word: fantastic. Thanks to the luxury of the SunLodge you can really relax and the stunning views just made it perfect. We’ll definitely be back!
