If you want to take a cultural day trip to a city in the vicinity of your campsite then Carinthia has two large cities: Klagenfurt and Villach.

Klagenfurt is the capital and also the largest city in Kärnten. You can visit plenty of museums and castles in this old city east of the Worthersee. The beautiful mountain city of Villach is a city full of history and culture. They are both highly recommendable!

Water fun in Carinthia

Water sports lovers will have plenty to do whilst staying at the campsites. Carinthia has lots of lakes where you can enjoy various water sports, including the smaller Worthersee, Faaker See and Millstatter See. This region also has a few larger lakes which are very popular:

• The Weissensee
  The Weissensee is at the foot of the Gailtaler Alps. There is plenty to do around the lake, known for the Alternative Eleven City Races. You can even go diving here!
• Ossiacher See
  The Ossiacher See is a lake by the small town of Ossiacher. The beautiful lake, with its deep blue water, is an oasis of calm. You can take wonderful hikes or cycle rides here.
• Presseggersee
  The Presseggersee is one of the warmest lakes in Austria. You will find beautiful sandy beaches and rolling grassy fields where you can lie in the sun.

The pleasant summer climate means that the water temperature of the lakes is extremely pleasant for swimming. You can also enjoy plenty of water fun at your campsite. Many of the campsites in Carinthia have swimming pools so are ideal for children.
